Our Story
Love wood & play.....
We create exciting worlds of imaginative wooden toys, that are made to last with a lifetime of love. We strive to continuously develop and grow our charmingly quirky products, that are engaging, tirelessly entertaining, and perfect for little hands. While we love to be educational through play, we encourage every child to be authentic so that they can grow with confidence, and have fun at the same time!
Start with a sketch
Our products are all dreamt up by our lovely designer Danielle, and then brought to life by our good friends at the factory, who are like family to us. Each part of the Tender Leaf cog is as important as the next, and we love working together to achieve our legacy.
Tested, tested, tested
We know they are fun to play with, but we have to be sure they are completely safe and durable. All our toys meet the safety standard EN71, ASTM F963 and AS/NZS ISO.
Heart and home
Creating toys with longevity is what we do best. We work hard to maintain a strong brand identity and together we strive to be the best we can be.
Every year, we spend around two months working alongside our wonderful suppliers Mentari International in Indonesia, makers of all Tender Leaf Toys. Their family-run factory operates with high standards of training, wellbeing and respect and provides dependable employment for hundreds of local villagers. During our visits we work together, eat together and make gorgeous toys together.
Toys for this generation, trees for the next
We are deeply committed to protecting Indonesia’s natural resources and only work with reclaimed rubberwood, a by-product of the latex industry. In addition, for every reclaimed tree it uses, we plant a new one, driving ahead the cycle of regeneration. We have been awarded the ICTI Ethical Toy Program seal of approval for our ethical and sustainable supply chain. Every step of the production process from raw timber to the finished product happens under one roof, thereby increasing efficiency, minimizing waste, and decreasing their carbon footprint.
Handmade means a lot
From raw wood to the finished product, every single stage of production happens in the same family-run factory. Once each toy has been hand-painted, assembled and checked, it is wrapped in paper and packaged in recycled cardboard.
We care a lot about being as sustainable to our lovely planet as we can be, and we are close to eliminating single-use plastic in all our packaging.
